The family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, has announced that the one-week observation of his passing will be held on August 30 in Accra. This was revealed in a Facebook post by DL106.9 FM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, which also indicated that the final funeral rites will be held in Kumasi.

The Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, led by Abusuapanyin, stated that these arrangements were made following consultations with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who was formally informed of the musician’s passing. “The one-week celebration is on August 30 in Accra, with the venue to be announced soon,” he stated.

“We appeal to everyone to conduct themselves properly at the event to avoid any injuries or incidents. Let’s pray for a peaceful and solemn gathering to honour and show respect to Kwadwo Fosu,” he added.

On August 2, the family of Daddy Lumba, in partnership with the Creative Arts Agency, organised a candlelight vigil in his honour. The touching ceremony was held at Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

The mood was emotional and respectful as thousands of Ghanaians gathered at the venue to pay their respects to the late music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

He passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.

Burial venue to be communicated later.
