Military Helicopter Crashes in Adansi Akrofum: Aircraft Burns Beyond Recognition

A military helicopter belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces has reportedly crashed at Adansi Akrofum in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The incident, which occurred under unclear circumstances, has left the community in shock as authorities race to gather more information on what led to the crash.

GAF reports the helicopter missing as it's off radar

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the helicopter was completely engulfed in flames and burned beyond recognition. Locals reported hearing a loud explosion before spotting thick smoke rising from the crash site. Emergency responders and military officials have since cordoned off the area to begin investigations and recovery efforts.

In an official statement, the Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that the aircraft had departed from Accra en route to Obuasi with a total of eight individuals onboard—three crew members and five passengers. “The aircraft is currently off the radar, and all efforts are being made to establish contact,” the statement read, adding that further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
